Memorial Day Information and Upcoming Rehearsals!

by Director on May 24, 2013

Hi Everyone,

Here are the details for Memorial Day, this coming Monday, 5/27:

Meet downstairs in the Falmouth library by 9:00am. Be ready to sing by 9:00am! We need time not only to run our pieces, but we also have to set up our equipment and do a sound check outside. The ceremony is at 10:00am and will be done by 11:00am.

We will be singing two pieces: The Navy Hymn and The Service Music Medley. Please make sure you have the right copy of the Navy Hymn, with the coast guard verse written in.

We will be wearing:

Black Shoes, Black Socks, Black pants, white dress shirt/blouse (with undershirt!) and our musical ties/scarves. You may want sunglasses as well. Looking at the forecast right now it looks like it is supposed to be sunny, and around 60 degrees.

Make sure your music is in a black folder. I would suggest removing the rest of your music (the concert pieces) to make your folder lighter, or having it in a different folder.

We do stand for the entire ceremony, so be prepared!

We are TWO WEEKS away from our concerts!

Next week, we will begin meeting twice a week. We have a rehearsal next Tuesday, May 28th, at ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH in Falmouth. We will be rehearsing there from now until the concerts. Please arrive by 6:45pm on Tuesday, so we can get through as much as possible. We will also be deciding where to stand, etc.

At Tuesday’s rehearsal, my plan is to work our way through the program backwards (Starting with “Puttin’ on the Ritz). Please make sure that you have your folder in concert order (see my last blog post!).

All the songs except one have been signed up for. Anyone want to talk about “In My Merry Oldsmobile?” (A special thank you to Hal, Mike and Tonya for agreeing to sing a solo version of this!)

If you have already signed up for a piece, you will be receiving an email shortly with some historical info to include.

Thank you everyone! Have a great weekend, and see you Monday!
